When should I book my newborn photography session?
The best time to book your newborn session is during your second or third trimester. This insures availability around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we will choose a session date together, ideally within the first two weeks after birth (for posed studio look photos) and if you choose lifestyle age doesn't matter. Don't worry if your baby is already here- reach out anyway! I'll always do my best to fit in last minute newborn sessions whenever possible.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
Depends on what package you choose!
Lifestyle newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.In home sessions allow you to relax without packing bags or traveling with a brand new baby. Your home provides a meaningful backdrop that tells your family's unique story, creating timeless images you'll treasure forever.
Posed studio look sessions take place either in your home or my home studio in Roxbury, NJ. Don't worry if you don't have the best lighting or interior of the house, I usually bring backdrops, props and lighting equipment with me.
Do I need a perfectly clean house?
Not at all! This is one of the biggest worries new parents have but it's never something you need to stress about. I only need a few rooms with good natural light and I can easily move small items if needed. Your baby's safety, your family's comfort and capturing genuine moments are always my priority- not having a magazine perfect home.
What my baby should wear?
Simple is always best. A neutral-colored onesie, swaddle or simple knitted romper photographs beautifully and keeps the focus on your baby's tiny features. I also have a small baby wardrobe with handmade knitted outfits. Before your session I'll send you a guide with clothing recommendations for both baby and entire family.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Absolutely! I encourage parents and siblings to be part of the session. These early days are about your growing family and some of the most meaningful images are the quiet moments your share together. Even pets are welcome to join if you'd like to include them
What if my baby cries or needs to be fed?
That's completely normal! Newborn sessions are baby-led, meaning we take plenty of time for feedings, diaper changes, soothing and cuddles whenever needed. There is never any rush. My goal is to create a calm, relaxed experience for both you and your baby.
How long does a newborn session last?
Most lifestyle newborn sessions last between 1-1.5 hours while studio posed sessions last between 2-3 hours including set up, feeding and changing a baby. This allows plenty of time for breaks while keeping the experience relaxed and stress free.
Do you provide wraps or props?
Yes! For posed studio look session I bring beautiful handmade wraps in a colors you choose before your session, headbands, hats, blankets, etc. For lifestyle I bring outfits for your baby that you choose before the session (you don't have to use my outfits of corse).
What areas do you serve?
I photograph newborns throughout Morris County, including Morristown, Randolph, Madison, Denville, Chester and surrounding North Jersey communities. If you are located outside these areas, feel free to reach out to discuss travel options.
