How to prepare for your newborn session

Welcoming a new baby is one of the beautiful and emotional times in life. As a newborn photographer based inMorris county ,NJ, I know how important it is to preserve those fresh, fleeting moments without adding stress to your already busy life. My goal is to make your newborn session feel easy, comfortable and meaningful. So here is what to expect and how to prepare:

Timing

Newborn are best to photographed within the first 5-10 days, when they are sleepiest and still curling up naturally. But if your baby is a bit older don’t worry. I tale a flexible, baby-led approach that allows for beautiful images at any stage.

If you are expecting in Morristown, Roxbury, Madison, Chester, Denville, or anywhere in Morris county, it is a good idea to book your session during your third trimester. That way we can pencil in a date around your due date.

Location Options

Choose between a relaxed in-home lifestyle session or a studio-style setup (depending on your preference and what feels best for your family).

Many of my newborn sessions in Morris county take place in the comfort of my clients home. This lifestyle approach is ideal for families who want relaxed, natural images that tell the story of your every day love.

Prefer posed session in my home studio capturing those perfect baby poses? I bring everything needed, including soft handmade wraps (only quality materials are used for babies), blankets and props to keep the focus on the baby.

What to wear for a newborn session.

For parents and siblings, soft neutrals and simple textures photograph beautifully. Avoid bold patterns, neon colors and logos. Please, do not do matching outfits for siblings. Instead coordinate! I will help you to coordinate outfits. Just ask me!

Feeding and comfort.

A well-fed baby is a happy baby!Try to feed your little one right before the session starts. Don’t stress if they needs breaks like diaper changes, feedings and soothing are all part of the process, and we will move at your baby’s pace.

Safety first.

As a professional newborn photographer in Morris county ,NJ, your baby’s comfort and safety are always my top priority. Every pose and setup is done with care and gentleness ,and I follow safe handling practices at all times. I have over 9 years of experience and training so no worries here!

Another thing I would like to add. You can watch me work but please, don’t stress about the baby. Let me handle everything. Your baby can feel your stress and usually they start crying and feeling very unsettled. Sometimes parents get stressed and worried (i totally get it because i am a mom too) but trust me once i swaddle your baby and rock them they will fall asleep (unless they are hungry).

Sleepiest babies I’ve had the parents of which were either sleeping peacefully on my couch haha or watching tv in another room (if it’s in their house). Baby is relaxed, I have my space to work and parents have a little break.
